Emotional intelligence Team Bonding: The Floating Raft
Emotional intelligence team bonding: explore our floating raft format
Team bonding is a very important business concept for creating an effective team, and focuses on a series of activities aimed primarily at strengthening relationships within the team. In fact, good relationships within a corporate team are crucial for improving team effectiveness.
Club del Sole's beautiful villages provide a wonderful backdrop to this challenging and engaging experience: our floating raft team bonding emphasises nature, manual skills, strategy, teamwork and above all emotions.
Behind the playful dynamic lies a great opportunity for change and learning: the activity is led by one of our certified “Six Seconds” coaches, part of the most important network of studies and research on social-emotional skills, to learn one's own brain style and how to use it with a view to improving relationships.
The activity is split into three stages that balance emotions to lead participants to effective learning:
FIRST STAGE: MOTIVATE
This is the stage in which emotional energy is generated by getting to know the Brain Styles of each participant. A few days before the activity, all participants fill out the SEI questionnaire that helps to identify the talents and strengths of each team member so that they can work together better during the team-building activity and in corporate life. It is a description on how the emotional and rational parts of our brain work, and can be a very effective tool for awareness and improvement.
SECOND STAGE: ACTIVATE
It is time to get into action with the actual game activity. The Floating Raft game consists in designing rafts capable of passing the test of buoyancy and stability through engineering and strategic skills. The participants are split into teams: each receives the same kit of materials consisting of wooden planks of different sizes, floating tubes, ropes and tools, to be used to build a raft. When time runs out, the rafts will have to pass both the test of buoyancy in water and the test of stability by keeping a goblet full of wine on board without spilling it. The team that manages to keep stable the most number of wine-filled glasses wins, so they can toast together to succeeding on the quest!
THIRD STAGE: REFLECT
The final stage acts as a link between the activity experienced and the real world, thus completing the learning loop. The coach carries out a review on the collaboration dynamics that emerged during the team bonding activity via feedback and sharing tools among all participants.
