A team building made of deleted and found words
The caviardage is a creative writing practice that is a bit different from the usual: you take the page of a book, any book, read it carefully and then start to erase word after word, drawing a thick black line on each line of text but leaving a few words visible
Team building must challenge, otherwise what team building is it? If everything is easy, if everything is natural and instinctive, people will always be prone to do things themselves, without teamwork, without self-analysis, without understanding their own abilities and limits. That is why today we have decided to talk to you about a team building activity that should not be underestimated: the caviardage.
The caviardage is a creative writing practice that is a bit different from the usual: you take the page of a book, any book, read it carefully and then start to erase word after word, drawing a thick black line on each line of text but leaving a few words visible; these words must not be random, but able to form something new, meaningful together.
How can this be team building?
Imagine being at Tenuta Primero together with your colleagues for a team building described as "focused on collaboration, reflection on how you perceive the company and the working environment you are part of, and to stimulate creativity and ingenuity". It all starts with a blackboard and post-it notes, where each participant is asked to write down what the company's main value might be; then each note is stuck on the blackboard.
All the values that each participant considers to be the company's own are hung on that blackboard, with the indentations of the lagoon in the background and the sound made by the coffee machine for the coffee break. At this point the participants are divided into teams and each team is given a printed page of a book. Each team will have to work together and create the company manifesto using the existing words in the text, removing superfluous ones and decorating the page.
COFFEE BREAKS AND STIMULATING SPACES
A creative writing team building absolutely implies a coffee break worthy of a literary atmosphere. The smell of coffee, sweets, savoury snacks, a variety of fruits and drinks, all to help you get into the right mood. Then, let's face the truth, how creative would you feel locked inside four grey walls, with only the sound of sirens and horns in the distance?
Writing, creating, focusing on oneself and those around us to create something unique and meaningful is an activity that requires a peaceful environment that encourages contact and connection between participants. This is why Workin'Glamp villages are perfect leaning centres, where you can organise training, team building and activities to increase fellowship, develop empathy and train not only your management and problem solving skills, but also your emotional intelligence.
