The Programmers' Avenue: the Rimini Family Village as a Learning Centre
We know that Club del Sole villages and the Workin' Glamp formula are the perfect combination for the perfect learning centre, but it was an extraordinary thrill to see this in action and to have first-hand experience of how exceptional it all is.
From Wednesday 11th October to Friday 13th October 2023, an entire avenue in the Rimini Family Village was transformed into a hub for programmers. In perfect Workin'Glamp style, 23 computer programmers were invited by their company to take part in three days of programming jams, with project development moments preceded by hours of training and followed by evenings of relaxation.
The guests arrived on Wednesday 11th October and were immediately taken to their accommodation, the village lodges: independent flats with a minimum of two bathrooms, a common living room with kitchen area and private terrace. But these guests, in addition to attending training sessions in the tensile structure and taking part in team bonding activities, had to develop a project over these three days, and then present it on the afternoon of 13th October, before departure. What they needed was space in which they could work quietly (without the fear of “peeks” from other teams), an extremely stable internet network and coffee with snacks available at all times.
In full Workin' Glamp spirit, a format that sees a working environment set in nature and in the open air without having to give up the comforts of designer accommodation, 10 lodges in our resort were used as private meeting rooms. Each team thus had its own lodge to work in, supported by the resort's IT and technology infrastructure, with a private coffee break station supplied by our staff several times a day. At the end of the first day - after arrivals, official presentations, training and dinner in the village restaurant - all participants took part in an evening of board games and karaoke.
Thursday 12th October was a full day of programming jams, with the sound of fingers on computer keyboards. The morning of the last day, Friday 13th October, saw the participants complete the final details of the project, because immediately after lunch, the presentation and evaluation of the work carried out began.
These were emotional days, which closed the Rimini Family Village season with the wonderful image of an entire avenue dedicated to tight groups and in competition, focused on creating something completely new that had to come to life in a matter of hours. Working to make this level of concentration and collaboration possible by building a supportive environment was an experience that filled us with pride.
